QUESTION 1 :
How do you feel after reading the story?
For me, after reading this story it gave me a lot of moral values that can be apply in our daily lives. I can understand that this story is about a couple of husband and wife who living in poverty. One day, her husband got an invitation to a great occasion, they decided to join it. The story tells about hoe a husband willing to do anything in order to make his wife pleased and happy. Mathilde felt very humiliated because she hasn't a dress. She never satisfied on what she got, she asked her husband to give some more money to buy some jewels. I felt that we need to think twice before make any decision. Happiness is not about how rich we are and how many jewels we have. I think happiness is when we have a good time spend with our beloved one. From this story, her husband suggested to borrowing from Madame Forestier. When the day jas arrived, the necklace lost when they were getting home. She was careless and her husband try ro seacrh everywhere for the necklace, they didn't have the money to replace it. Unfortunately, they didn't have any choices, they found a string of diamond which seemed exactly like the one missing when they went to Palais-Royal. It was worth forty thousand. They had a hard time and tiring lives since they decided to bought the diamond necklace. As everything has been settled, she stumbled Madame Forestier and she know the truth that the necklace wasn't original. It cost lower than they think. It doesn't worth for what they have been doing after all. I learned to appreciate what we have right now and we should never complain on how hard our life is. Besides, we have to be honest towards others. Mr and Mrs Loisel should be honest with Madame Forestier about the losing of necklace that day. Who knows, from the honesty maybe Madame Forestier can forgive them and discuss the way to replace it.
QUESTION 2 :
Write the ending of the story.
For the ending of the story, I think it should ended a happy ending rather then negative . Madame Forestier should forgive them and gave them back the original diamond necklace to them. Mr and Mrs Loisel can resold the diamond and the money they get can be cover their living expenses. They can use the money to overhaul their needs. Mr Loisel work too hard before this, it is time to him for rest. It must been an extremely exhausted for him.
QUESTION 3 ;
Who is your favourite character and why do you like the character?
From 'The Necklace' short story, my favorite character is Mr Monsieur Loisel. He is expected to have glorious fame or lavish fortune. In the story, he is a lowly clerk but he is loving husband to Mathilde. He never archieves an ideal status or accumulates any fortune, but he is a responsible man. This shows by he tried to fulfill her wife wishes to have a new dress for the occasion. He gave four hundred franc added ten franc for a diamond necklace. His wife felt humiliated as looking poor in the middle of a lot of rich woman.
Besides, Mr Loisel is a hardworking and loyal. As shown in the story, Mr Loisel didn't leave his wife in her hardest time. He didn't go to another woman to release his tension. He didn't give up eith the biggest mistakes that his wife did. He is very hardworking man, he did many things during the time they want to replace the necklace.
Humility apparent in Mr Loisel by his unassuming attitude and simple desire. Example from the movie when he sit down to dinner and exclaims that is nothing better than good homade beef stew. Yet he ask her wife to wear flower rather than expensive things during the occasion.
